Was that a $2k swing? WTF!

Started the day open +$8-900. Then it was downhill. I gave my winners too much room to retrace. I didn't take profits when I was supposed to. I.... let me stop whining. The following were some of the things that led to my losses today:

  • Didn't practice Risk Management
    • selling some on the breakouts and buying back at lower prices.
    • sizing correctly per the trade idea (i.e. feeler sizes, one lots, multiple lots)
    • took trades that didn't yield a possible 5:1 r/r.
  • Didn't journal/document my trades
    • how the hell am I going to review my trades?!
    • take snapshots of all trades accompanied by notes so I can review it.
  • Traded emotionally
    • I was furious when I loss an easy trade.
    • I held onto a trade that looked exhausted just because I wanted 'more.'
  • Made technically unsound trades
    • Shorted a strong stock just because it looked weak (stupid).
  • Didn't trade as well as I know I can.
Today I took a $1200 loss. I'm pretty disappointed in the day's results but I promise this won't happen again. I worked too hard to let my ego take the best of me now. I'm capable of making $10k months. I'll see you all in the morning. Going to work on a more practical journal and think a little about my trading. Hope everyone's doing well this year..... just kidding, give me your money.
